Before we get started a little context on “A Modern Blueprint for Leaving an Inheritance to Your Children’s Children.”

So our company’s purpose statement is way bigger than just business.  It’s about leaving a legacy (aka an inheritance).

If you find that interesting, please read on.

We execute this through a framework which we call the 4Bs.

So in my reflection time this morning, I identified a good blueprint for leaving an inheritance for your children’s children that I thought I would share.

If you are a parent, grandparent, instructor/teacher, leading a company or teams or even just active in a community of others – this might be useful and encouraging.

So without further ado…I give you “A Modern Blueprint for Leaving an Inheritance to Your Children’s Children:”

A Modern Blueprint for Leaving an Inheritance to Your Children’s Children

1. Pass Down a Faith that Lasts

  • Pray for your descendants — even the ones not born yet (Psalm 103:17; John 17:20).
  • Write down your testimony — how you came to know the Lord, answered prayers, lessons learned from trials.
  • Create family traditions that center on God’s Word (e.g., weekly prayer time, reading the Christmas story before gifts).
  • Be an example — live in such a way that your grandchildren see joy, forgiveness, and humility in you.

2. Build a Reputation of Integrity

  • Keep your word, even in small matters (Matthew 5:37).
  • Deal honestly in business and personal finances (Proverbs 11:1).
  • Be known for generosity and kindness so your family inherits goodwill instead of suspicion.

3. Manage Earthly Resources Wisely

  • Avoid crushing debt that could burden the next generation (Proverbs 22:7).
  • Save consistently so you can help with future needs (education, housing, ministry support).
  • Write a will that reflects both provision and principles — designate resources to bless your descendants and support Kingdom work.

4. Train the Next Generation

  • Teach your children and grandchildren life skills — budgeting, work ethic, how to read Scripture, how to pray.
  • Involve them in acts of service so they inherit a love for giving, not just getting.

5. Protect the Spiritual Lineage

  • Guard your household from influences that could destroy faith — be intentional about media, friendships, and cultural messages.
  • Encourage godly marriages and partnerships, since who your children join with will greatly shape your grandchildren.

6. Bless Beyond Your Family

  • Remember that in the Body of Christ, “children’s children” can also mean spiritual descendants — people you’ve discipled who go on to raise up others in the faith.
  • Support ministries, missionaries, and local churches so your influence extends far beyond your own bloodline.

Final Thought

📖 Key Reminder from Scripture:
“The lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting for those who fear Him, and His justice to the children’s children,

To those who keep His covenant and remember His precepts to do them.”

— Psalm 103:17–18 (NASB)
